Info for Parents
Parents are often aware that they need to be involved in the search and application process for US unis more than they might for UK options, which are often handled by the school. It is challenging to take the step of applying to uni in America, no matter how comfortable you think you are with the culture. The pages of this website were written with both students AND parents in mind, and some pages are particularly useful in getting to grips with both academic and financial matters. We especially encourage parents to spend time on the Financial Aid page, comparing the costs of a Harvard education to the range of costs likely within the UK system, whether with full accommodation or living at home.
We cannot emphasise enough that, even though the "sticker" cost of a Harvard education is high, because the College is totally committed to funding all students who demonstrate financial need, fees and costs can be significantly lower at Harvard than at a UK university - and there are no loans to repay.
Parents can also consult the Visit Harvard page and see for themselves what studying in Boston might be like!
